Dedication
Speech
August 12, 2005
Franklin has welcomed residents and
visitors with open arms for almost 100 years. This sign is
an example of the spirit of the residents that continues to welcome
visitors to this wonderful community.
Today marks the beginning of another
phase of the rebuilding of Franklin. Each of our accomplishments
would not have been possible without the help, dedication and hard work
of our residents and friends.
We always feel it is hard to name one
single individual for making something possible but we would like to
publicly thank the individuals who made this sign a
reality. John Nepote built the sign with the help of Ray
Hamblin who is chairman of our Planning and Land Use Committee, Ron
Wilbert made the lettering which he and Butch Maxwell installed,
the footings were dug by Henry Ashbacher and Rick Ryder.
The materials for the sign were donated by John Nepote, Ron Wilbert and
Joplin Building Supply.
We also thank the volunteer crew who
work so diligently to keep this corner looking nice by keeping the
grass cut - Harold White, Leo Kobak, Ted Wynn and Tim
Foxwell. Thanks to Dianna Morrison for tackling the
paperwork involved. There are many others who have spent
countless hours in the planning and paperwork involved with making this
sign a reality and we thank all of them.
We would like to thank everyone for
working so hard to make this day possible. We also want to thank each
of you for coming.
We dedicate this sign to those who
have made Franklin their home throughout the years.
You can be assured that the
spirit of Franklin remains!!!!
