Franklin Newsletter
May, 2005
June 5, 2005 2 pm. Franklin Community Council,Inc. Board Meeting, Bill
& Dianna Morrison’s garage, 301 S. Vine (behind old Catholic
Church). All welcome to attend.
We still need a couple volunteers to help with mowing the area at the
south end of Franklin (Highway 69 and Highway 47) where the “Welcome”
sign will be placed. We have a few volunteers but could use 2 more. Can
you spare a few hours to help? We are setting up a mowing schedule and
need someone for the 1st & 4th Wednesday of the month .
COMMUNITY HALL: Work on the hall has begun again. Weather and minor
setbacks had delayed the project only temporarily.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The community picnic was held May 7, 2005.
Approximately 85 residents and friends attended. The community enjoyed
a relaxing afternoon of games, prizes, music, food, a historical
program, an awards program and visiting.
Don’t forget about the endowment fund which has been established which
will allow an opportunity to leave a lasting tribute to the community.
Please keep FCCI in mind when leaving a memorial in lieu of flowers for
a deceased loved one. Tell your friends and relatives who no longer
live in Franklin about the endowment fund. This money will remain in a
managed fund and the interest will be used to maintain the properties
owned by FCCI (Hall, Park, Welcome Sign). Keep the spirit of Franklin
alive for years to come.
PLANNING AND LAND USE COMMITTEE: A “Community Work Day” will be held
Saturday, June 4. Lunch will be served. Bring your gloves, shovels and
trucks and help with one of the projects. Lots of bricks and concrete
blocks to be moved, flowers & trees to be planted, items in storage
moved, cleanup sidewalk in front of park, general cleanup, etc. Men,
women and children welcome to help. We welcome all help whether for an
hour or all day. Be a part of your community’s rebuilding.
If you are able to help please call Phyllis at 347-8387 or 249-9333 so
we can prepare lunch.
PARK: The walking path will be laid as soon as weather permits. Be sure
to send your forms in for your paver at the park so it can be included
in the first order. The first order will be sent June 15. Footings are
being placed for the sign with construction of the sign to be sometime
in June.
WELCOME SIGN: A concrete foundation is being placed and the sign will
be built soon
HERITAGE COMMITTEE: Thanks to all working on finding information on the
sidewalk. Contact Phyllis at 347-8387 if you have any information.. The

game was Candy (Toschi) Pitts for identifying the most historical
structures correctly.

. Work has begun on water infrastructure improvements.
