We would like to extend our sympathies to the families of Alice (Stroud) Ellis and Phyllis (Bernard) Harrington who were residents of Franklin at some point in their lives and passed away this past month.   We value the importance of all of our residents (past and present).  

FUNERAL DINNERS:  Call the center (347-4220) to make arrangements for using the facility for funeral dinners at no charge.

EDY‘s NEIGHBORHOOD SALUTE: :  Block Party - Ice Cream Social  August 26, 7 pm. at the park.  Franklin has been selected as one of the grand prize winners in the national Edy’s Ice Cream Neighborhood Salute. We hope you’ll join us for cake and ice cream.   Be sure to be there for photos to be sent to the company for use in their advertising. 

POLKA DANCE & DINNER:  October 8  This will be a dinner and dance.   $10 per person.   Reservations must be made in advance to plan for the dinner.   Dance will be held from 2-5 pm.  Dinner immediately following.    Call 620-347-4220 and leave your name and phone # and someone will contact you or call 620-249-9333.  You may also send your check with the # of tickets needed and tickets can be picked up at the door.  Send your check made out to “FCCI” to FCCI, P. O. Box 43, Franklin, Ks. 66735.   Dinner will be catered by Schroeder’s Butchering.  Menu will include BBQ Beef, Sausage, Scalloped Potatoes, Baked Beans, Bread & butter,  and beverages. 

50s-70s DANCE - September 9 :  8 pm- midnight.  Music & lighting by Top Hat Entertainment, Kelly Seeman, DJ & Karaoke; Beverages & snacks available;  $5 per person;  Reservations recommended. LIFELONG FRIENDS:   August 17 program was attended by a large group.   The program titled  Preserving Your Memories was presented by Laura Samford of scrapbookdreamer.com.  The program was enjoyed by everyone.  Guests were served jello salad , cookies. lemonade & iced tea.  Card games were played to end an enjoyable afternoon.  The next program presented by Kevin Mitchelson, Attorney at Law, will be September 21 at 1pm.           

HERITAGE CONTRIBUTORS:   Tony & Ruth Zemlock donated several more items for the display at the center including a fire extinguisher which was in the Franklin Grade School.

VOLUNTEERS:  We have several willing volunteers who tend to do the majority of the work. We are grateful for their continued support.   The volunteers use their own equipment, buy gas, provide food, postage, paper, etc. in addition to volunteering their time.    We are asking that everyone take a moment to consider what they can do to help make Franklin a great place to call home.  We’d like to see your name and picture in the next article (newspaper, tv or magazine) showing how you have volunteered.   Please circle areas you are willing to help with and return the form along with your water bill or mail it to FCCI, P.
