 FUNERAL DINNERS
(Marion Kobak 620-347-8444)

Please remember that the community center is available for funeral dinners at no charge to the family.  FCCI will once again begin providing meals for funeral dinners for Franklin residents AND former Franklin residents.  Families are responsible for paying for meat for the dinner but side dishes and beverages will be prepared and served by residents of the community.

CONTRIBUTORS

Thanks to Schroeder’s Custom Butchering (Mark & Debbie Schroeder), Gerald Blazic, Frank & Marie Kobak, Tony and Ruth Zemlock, Rosalie Oppenheim in memory of Roseann Podpechan, Rudy & Charlene Widmar, and other miscellaneous donations. Memorials continue to be sent in the name of John Seglie, Fred Goodhart and John Houck.  We are truly grateful for each and every donation and are blessed to have such wonderful residents and “friends”.  All donation (large and small) help keep Franklin a strong community.    All donations go directly toward projects that benefit Franklin and the surrounding area.  No directors receive any payment for work they do.

HISTORICAL CONTRIBUTORS:  Thanks to Esther Sanders Marlier of Pittsburg for the beautiful framed displays of her husband Charles C. Marlier’s military medals, patches, photos and other items.  They will make a nice addition to the already beautiful veteans display at the hall.  Charles Marlier was born in Franklin and lived there for many years. Charles handmade the frames and displays.     Thanks to the generosity of those who want to insure that the history of Franklin is documented and remains in the community for future generations to enjoy.    We continue our search for family, business, veteran and other Franklin photos.   Please contact Phyllis at 347-8387 or 249-9333 if you have photos that can be copied and used for displays in the community center or if you have items to donate.

FAMILY INFO:  Don’t forget to send your family information in with your water bill. If you have lost your form just write the information on a piece of paper.  Please take care of this as soon as possible as we will be making the historic signs soon and need this information.  If you want your name & memories to appear please send this info with your water bill this month.  Also send in photos and captions for the DVD.   Must have by end of April.  This is the last time this information will be in the newsletter.  Be creative. Just a couple lines about something you remember special about Franklin (an event, a business, your school,  etc.)   If you have any information, photos or memorabilia relating to the Amazon Army march please let us know as we will have a display of those items in the glass case at the hall.  DO NOT be disappointed if your family is not included on the posters throughout the park.  We cannot put the information there if you don’t send it to us.    The poster will show families who settled each ten years similar to the following and will continue to present day.   Although you may not have stories to send at this time please at least list your families name and date they settled in Franklin.
