Graduation ceremonies today for three area

Commencement exercises will be held today at St. Paul High
School, Girard High School and Northeast High School.
The details of the commencement ceremonies include:
Commencement exercises for the 73 graduating seniors of the Girard High
School Class of 2004 is scheduled for 3 p.m. today in the Ted R. Taylor Gymnasium.
The graduating class selected Courtney Bolejack and Vincent Hofer to represent them as speakers
during the ceremony.
Bolejack, the daughter of Mark and Rita Bolejack of Girard, served as president
of her class the last three years. Along with being involved with a number
of clubs and organizations, she was on the Principal's Honor Roll and High
Honor Roll and has received honors from Who's Who and academic scholarships
from Southwestern College and Kansas Wesleyan University. She plans to continue
her education at a four-year college, majoring in psychology, and then attend
Hofer is the son of Chris and Nancy Hofer
of Franklin. During high school he was
active in many activities, especially in FFA where he held various offices,
including chapter president. He was also selected as Master Ritual President
of the Southeast District. Hofer was named a Kansas State Scholar, a KU Honor
student, a Phi Kappa Phi Honoree, and a Kansas State University Leadership
Scholar. He was a two-year member of NHS, was on the High Honor Roll throughout
high school, and has received a National FFA Scholarship. After graduation
he plans to attend Kansas State University to major in agribusiness.
Graduation will begin with the procession of the graduates into the gym
to "Pomp and Circumstance" which will be played by the GHS Band.
Following this, the GHS Concert Choir and Choralation, led by James Beltz
and John Womeldorff, will sing "You Raise Me Up," arranged by Roger Emerson.
The GHS Band, directed by Willey Abati, will then play "Circle of Life," arranged
by Michael Sweeney.
Following the presentations by the 2004 commencement speakers, Superintendent
Gary Snawder will give the class charge, USD 248 Board of Education President
Tony Stark will give the response, Principal Blaise Bauer will present the
class for receipt of diplomas, and Mr. Stark will present the diplomas.
Baccalaureate services, sponsored by the Girard Ministerial Alliance, will
be held in Shireman Auditorium at 1:30 p.m. on May 16.
