Polka Parties have been a long
standing tradition in
Franklin. The early coal mining families were all
known for their love of music and many times dances would break out in
homes as a way of entertainment. Dance halls including an
open air dance hall were located throughout Franklin and southeast
Kansas. Accordion
music was abundant. Many dances were held from
2003-2011. Dances are no longer held at the center.
Johnnie Zibert Band has provided the music. Johnnie began his
career
as a youth playing at the very location of the new Community Center
which was Vignatelli's Hall.
